Taxable status date is March 1st. All exemption applications must be filed by this date.
Forms related to the property tax assessment can be accessed below, in the "Documents" section.
The Town Board liaison to the Assessors department is Mike Ivino.
The Town of Saugerties has remained committed to maintaining assessments at approximately 100% of market value since the town-wide reassessment completed in 2010. To support this goal, the Assessor’s Office conducts an annual review of real estate sales and compares those sale prices to existing assessed values. This process, known as trending, helps ensure that assessments remain equitable and reflect current market conditions.
For the 2026 assessment roll, market analysis indicated continued increases in residential property values. Based on this analysis, assessed values for most residential properties were adjusted to maintain alignment with the market. Overall, residential assessments generally increased in the range of approximately 9%, reflecting recent market activity. However, changes to individual properties may vary depending on location, property characteristics, and prior assessment levels.
It is important to note that an increase in assessed value does not necessarily result in a corresponding increase in property taxes. Property taxes are based on the distribution of total assessed value across the municipality. If assessments increase at a similar rate overall, there may be little to no impact on individual tax bills.
