The Saugerties Animal Shelter invites the community to ring in the New Year with a refreshing act of kindness by participating in its second annual “Chilly Cherish Challenge” Cold Plunge Fundraiser. The event will take place on Thursday, January 1, 2026, from Noon to 1:00 p.m. at Berean Park, 49 Reservoir Road in Highland, NY.
Participants are encouraged to take the plunge -- either individually or as part of a team -- to raise funds for the Saugerties Animal Shelter, which provides care and support for homeless and neglected animals.
Registration is open through December 28, 2025, and can be completed by emailing saugertiesanimalshelter2017@gmail.com. Those registering should include their name(s), contact information, and team name (if applicable).
“This event is a fun and spirited way for our community to come together for a cause that saves lives,” said representatives from the Saugerties Animal Shelter. “Every plunge and every donation directly supports the animals that rely on us for care, comfort, and a second chance.”
Individuals or organizations interested in sponsoring a participant or team may send donations via Venmo (@sawfsas) or PayPal (@sawf2020). Please include the name of the sponsored participant or team in the payment note.

Checks may be made payable to Saugerties Animal Welfare Fund and mailed to P.O. Box 45, Saugerties, NY 12477, or dropped off at the shelter during open hours.
